Effingo's Chief Information & Technology Officer

Effingo Technology is made possible by our distinguished Chief Information & Technology Officer, Joseph A. Farran, who brings with him over 42 years of IT knowledge.   From the early age of 16, Joseph was the author of the very first Algebra I solving and teaching program designed for the most prominent computing technology of it's time, the inventive and cutting edge, Apple II computer.

His most recent accomplishments include his pioneering work for the past 37 years at the University of California at Irvine, Office of Information and Technology department. 

At the University of California at Irvine (UCI), Joseph was the system analyst for the university's largest scale computer systems, including a Convex Exemplar super computer, VAX, DEC, PDP, Sequent and various flavors of Unix computers.   In the year 2000 and for the next 19 years, Joseph dedicated his skillset solely working on and developing parallel and High-Performance Computing (HPC) clusters for the entire campus, making the university's most cutting edge research possible.    

Joseph is the primary architect who designed, created, and ran the largest HPC cluster at UCI encompassing thousands of compute cores, Petabyte parallel file systems, Mellanox fiber networks, switches, schedulers and hundreds of compiled open source software.  Many of our nation's Information and Technological departments have been modeled after Joseph's work in this field.
